Taking History Lessons on the Road
Founded in 2007 by Larry H. Miller, Driven 2 Teach was created with a vision to provide Utah educators with immersive, hands-on learning experiences that bring history beyond textbooks and into realworld settings.
In 2025, the program completed its 18th year, bringing more than 60 educators on three place-based learning journeys. Participants explored The American West, retracing elements of the Lewis and Clark expedition; Founding People and Principles, a deep dive into the American Revolution through historic sites in Boston and Philadelphia; and Utah’ s People and Places, where teachers explored the historical and geographical milestones that shaped the state.
Two Larry H. Miller Company employees also joined last year’ s experiences. Jared Miller participated in Founding People and Principles, while Reagan Keith joined Utah’ s People and Places, further strengthening the connection between the program and the company’ s broader commitment to education and community engagement.
“ Coming from outside Utah, this amazing experience gave me a new appreciation for the state’ s history,” said Reagan Keith.“ It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm and engagement from the teachers at every stop and the strong sense of community they created along the way.”
In recognition of the program’ s impact, Driven 2 Teach was honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Utah Historical Society at its annual Awards Ceremony in January. The award recognizes individuals and organizations that demonstrate exceptional service and lasting contributions to the preservation and teaching of history.
