Honoring
Diversity

A
ugust 21 marked the first annual Living
Color Gala, hosted by Utah Business
Magazine and Living Color Utah. The
LHM Group was proud to sponsor the event,
which featured several speakers who are LHM
employees. The goal of the Living Color Gala
is to honor those individuals and organizations
that foster and nurture diversity within Utah.
The keynote speaker for the event was
Raymond Hall, chief human resources officer
of the LHM Group. In his presentation,
Hall expressed his passion for inclusion and
diversity, saying, “But simply acquiring talent
isn’t enough. It is essential that we match those
efforts by building cultures and communities
that are inclusive and give people a real chance
at opportunity, a real chance to learn and grow,
and a real chance at belonging. People need to
feel welcome, they need to see others like them,
and they need to believe that regardless of their
difference of opinion, religion, gender, race,
sexual orientation, or whatever, that they can
bring their whole selves to not only work but
wherever they are, and feel that they are valued,
respected, and appreciated.”
Another speaker, Nick Robbins, is the vice
president of educational development for Miller
Family Office. In his remarks, he stated, “Each
of us also hold privileges within certain spaces.
As we stand within those privileged spaces, it
is our individual and collective responsibility
to extend a helping hand to those who don’t or
can’t. It’s when we give a voice to those people,
and when we learn to navigate and reconcile
the intersections of our identities—sometimes
seemingly in competition with each other—that
can make us the most effective changemakers
and trailblazers.”
Inclusion and diversity remain important
directives within the LHM Group, and Group
leadership will continue to support events like
this one in the future. ◆
NEW MEXICO
Leading the Way
LHM American Toyota’s Michelle Aragon Named a Top Woman in Business
T
he Albuquerque Journal recently honored
more than 50 New Mexico women inside
a special edition of the Journal’s Business
Outlook section. Michelle Aragon, sales
manager for Larry H. Miller American Toyota
Albuquerque, was featured among the honorees
in the “Businesswoman in the Auto Industry”
category. The Journal’s inaugural Women in
Business section was created with one goal in
mind: to celebrate women who positively affect
the business community in extraordinary ways.
“I am elated to have so many people in the
Albuquerque community recognize my efforts
in the automotive industry, my focus on making
an impact in the community, and in lending
a hand to others to help them be successful
as well,” said Aragon. “I believe that success is
when you are able to break through normal
expectations, overcome the odds and create

additional opportunities where they may not
have existed prior, not only for yourself, but for
others.”
“We are so proud to honor some of the
most phenomenal women in New Mexico,” said
Cecilia Uebel, Journal senior vice president and
chief revenue officer. “These women are role
models for a whole new generation of future
women leaders. They have blazed a trail of
success in the business community.”
Businesswomen were selected based on the
most nominations by the public in each category
over a month-long voting period. Criteria
for nominations required Journal readers
to remark on businesswomen who provide
encouragement, develop confidence, and build
strengths, all while achieving their business and
company goals. ◆
