A MESSAGE FROM CLARK WHITWORTH, MMC appreciation: doing m those around us We’ve all heard the saying, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” I’ve been thinking about this along with a talk that someone sent me about appreciation. As I read the talk and evaluated my life and those in my life, including my family, my associates, those I serve with in the community and my neighbors, I realized that while it may seem a little corny, it’s likely that we can all do more to appreciate those around us. Knowing that you are appreciated and cared about is one of the biggest natural highs we can get. It’s true that when will flounder and n not perform the b because they don they are or how ap of them. In our zes to improve our bu sometimes we foc we think others ne change rather tha appreciation and o they are and the r know that is true f business perspect and father, too. O direction about ho need to change, w opportunity to ma my appreciation fo those necessary c It’s just a natural f This is not easy fo me, I know. But a build more trust in "Many times people will flounder and not b or not perform the best they can, mainly they don't know how important they are appreciative we are of them." someone is complimented, and genuinely appreciated, it sets off natural endorphins in our brain making us feel great. Not only is it a “feel good moment,” but it is also a motivator. When people know they are appreciated and loved (ok, I said it… yes, in a business article…loved), they are more motivated to do good things. I have seen it in my own family. When I take the opportunity to express my appreciation and acknowledgment to one of my children, instead of always trying to give them advice and direction, they not only behave better, but it seem as though the advice and direction isn’t need. This is also true with the relationships we have at work. Many times people in our home, in ou the workplace. It i make changes wh appreciated. In fac do things for othe they appreciate yo us should never fe do enough to plea or at work. Our re about more than p advice. Sometime little praise and to look to do this and management and not only help othe the best in us too!
