On July 25, 1979,
Mark Mitarai made a
decision that would
change not only his
place of employment,
but his career. That
decision: to work for
an up-and-coming
entrepreneur and join
the newly acquired
Larry H. Miller Toyota
team in Murray, Utah.
Thirty-four years later, that career came to a close with a
special retirement celebration held in his honor on July 31, 2013.
Mark was hired by Dan Curtis (pictured above with Mark) to
work as a technician for the newly opened Toyota dealership.
During his time at the store, he fulfilled many different roles,
including serving as the assistant service manager or working
behind the parts counter. In 1993, Mark again joined Dan at
Landcar Agency (now Total Care Auto), where he worked the
next 20 years of his career servicing contracts, working with
credit life and GAP products or specializing in claims.
“Mark has been a true partner,” shared Dan Curtis. “He assisted
me; he took the lead when needed; he has been a real asset
