The partnership between the Salt Lake Bees and America
First Credit Union is the biggest in Minor League Baseball and rivals many naming rights partnerships in the MLB .
The Larry H . Miller Company officially broke ground on the new ballpark for the Salt Lake Bees , and much like a baseball game the opening words of the event soared over the crowd to rapturous applause .
“ Play Ball !”
Gail Miller , Steve Starks and LHM company executives were joined by elected officials and various community members for a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction of the new ballpark for the Salt Lake Bees .
This also marks the beginning of construction on Phase 1 of Downtown Daybreak a transformational urban center in South Jordan , Utah bringing together housing , jobs , dining and entertainment options closer to where growth is occurring in Salt Lake County .
Steve Starks opened the event and welcomed attendees , announcing specifics of the ballpark , which will hold 7,500 fans , have various seating options , an alcohol-free zone , and more .
“ While our groundbreaking is centered around baseball , this is about more than that : it ’ s about our community . All of us , including our children and future generations ,” said Steve Starks , CEO of the Larry H . Miller Company . “ Baseball , as our national pastime , is a wonderful analogy for community – especially one like ours . It requires teamwork , collaboration , bold moves , and fans who cheer each other on .”
Afterward , Starks announced the landmark partnership with America First Credit Union , which will have exclusive naming rights for the ballpark and a nearby sports and entertainment plaza .
