MILLER FAMILY MESSAGE
SPORTS – THE POWER TO UNIFY
BY STEVE MILLER
Sports have a way of bringing people together like few other things can. In Utah, we’ ve seen firsthand how a shared love for a team, a game, or even a moment of athletic greatness can spark connection, celebration, unity and friendship.
Our family has had the honor of being a leading author in Utah’ s sports story for decades. From the days of owning the Utah Jazz to our continued stewardship of the Salt Lake Bees, Real Salt Lake and the Utah Royals FC, we’ ve seen how sports can help build cities, inspire youth, and strengthen families. Today, through our work with Show Up Utah’ s Unified Sports, the Utah Sports Commission, Sports Salt Lake, and support for the 2034 Winter Olympic Games, the Utah Open, and the Larry H. Miller
Utah Summer Games, we remain committed to building a sports legacy for generations to come.
Sports create common ground. In a time when the world can feel increasingly divided, a soccer match, a baseball game, or a ski race reminds us of what we share: passion, resilience and hope. Whether it’ s soccer fans packing America First Field, families cheering on the Bees at The Ballpark at America First Square, or Utahns preparing to welcome the world back for the Winter Games, these moments transcend politics and personal differences. They connect us as neighbors and as people.
And it starts young. Youth sports are a foundation for lifelong values— teamwork, discipline, humility, and joy. When children join a team, they learn how to communicate, persevere, and belong. Families gather on sidelines, forming friendships and memories that last well beyond the season. We’ ve seen how these small beginnings often lead to something much greater— not just future athletes, but future parents, leaders and entrepreneurs.
We believe deeply in the potential of sport to shape lives and shape communities. It’ s why we invest in professional teams, Olympic dreams, and grassroots programs alike. We know the power of a shared goal, a collective cheer, and a belief in something bigger than ourselves.
In Utah and beyond, sports remind us that we’ re stronger together!
