A few days before hitting its 25th anniversary, Vivint Smart
Home Arena hosted a press conference that would surprise
and delight those who had supported and attended events
at the arena for so many years. Gail Miller, owner of the
Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, announced a $125 million
dollar renovation plan for the arena that will enhance the
fan and visitor experience for years to come.
These renovations include solar panels designed to increase
energy efficiency, along with redesigned lower and upper
bowl concourses, new and exciting private clubs and suites,
and a bigger, more dynamic front lobby. Even the Jazz
players and visiting teams will enjoy new amenities, including
remodeled locker rooms. Along with more construction
surprises, fans, visitors, and event attendees will be treated to
more food options and overall improved amenities.
Speaking at the Vivint Smart Home Arena renovation announcement,
Gail Miller revisited some important moments from the history of the building.
THE ARENA HAS BEEN A COMMUNITY GATHERING
PLACE FOR THE PAST 25 YEARS, AND THIS RENOVATION
REAFFIRMS OUR FAMILY COMMITMENT TO THE UTAH
JAZZ, SALT LAKE CITY, AND THE STATE OF UTAH.

One significant upgrade that visitors will notice is the expanded
entryway. With many arenas, a similar improvement would
have been impossible due to their orientation on the property.
But when the arena was designed, Gail Miller suggested that it
be placed at a 45-degree angle—creating the spacious plazas
outside the building. That decision, along with many others, was a
sign that 25 years ago, the Millers were looking to the future.
