A Glance at LHM Charities at Work in April
Due to proper planning and cash
management, LHM Charities has resources
available during these turbulent times to
continue helping women and children in the
communities where we do business. Though
government restrictions prevent these nonprofit
funds from going to our own employees or
businesses, LHM Charities is carefully reviewing
requests from qualified charities so we can assist
nonprofits that are addressing urgent needs
during the COVID-19 crisis.
Approximately 900 students in the Boise
School District (Idaho) are homeless, and United
Way of Treasure Valley works with the district
to address basic needs. Though school is not in
session due to the coronavirus situation, school
liaisons are continuing to contact these vulnerable
students, and a grant from LHM Charities is
providing hygiene items, food, and clothes.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County (Idaho)
has seen a sudden rise in children needing day
care during the COVID-19 crisis, since many
parents who provide essential community services
cannot stay home. The charity has stayed open to
address this important need, and LHM Charities is
funding necessary food and staffing.
Many communities have seen a rise in
domestic violence as stress levels have risen
across the nation in recent weeks. LHM
Charities is supporting updates to an app
created by the National Center on Shaken
Baby Syndrome that reduces the risk of child
abuse. The app is given to all Utah parents of
newborns, and updates will include information
about intimate partner violence and postpartum
depression. Wasatch Forensic Nurses (Utah)
provides forensic exams to sexual assault
victims, since most hospitals do not maintain
personnel qualified to perform these specialized
services. Exams are offered at no cost to victims,
and LHM Charities is donating toward on-call
nursing services.
LHM Charities is assisting Youth Impact
as it collaborates with Ogden School District
(Utah) by delivering food to low-income,
at-risk students in need of nutritional support
during the COVID-19 crisis while school is
not in session. A donation to House of Hope
is enabling Utah homeless women entering
residential treatment for addiction to receive
necessary hygiene supplies.
Thank you to all whose support of
LHM Charities is allowing us to continue
assisting needy women and children in our
communities! ◆
