NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE MOVES TO UTAH

On April 4 , Larry H . Miller Sports & Entertainment and the NBA Development League announced that the Idaho Stampede , the NBA D-League team owned and operated by the Utah Jazz , was relocating to Salt Lake City for the start of the 2016-17 season .
The team will be known as the Salt Lake City Stars , paying tribute to its American Basketball Association roots from 1970-76 when the Utah Stars won the league championship in 1971 , and to the Utah Starzz , the WNBA team based in Salt Lake City from 1997-2002 . They will play their home games at Salt Lake Community College .
“ The relocation of our D-League team to Utah will further align our efforts in player development and basketball operations to support the Jazz ,” said Dennis Lindsey , Utah Jazz general manager . “ The close relationship will strengthen our team on the court by providing our younger players a chance to grow in an environment that is consistent with Jazz basketball . Additionally , it serves as a training ground for all aspects of our organization , from coaches to support personnel .”
The Salt Lake City Stars will host a 24-game home schedule between November and April at Salt Lake Community College . WS

UTAH JAZZ HOST AUTISM AWARENESS NIGHT

On April 1 , the Utah Jazz and Vivint Gives Back teamed up to host Autism Awareness Night . Vivint Gives Back and Jazz players Alec Burks , Derrick Favors , Gordon Hayward and Joe Ingles donated more than 800 tickets to families with children affected by autism . The game featured the opportunity for youth with autism to stand with members of the Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves during the National Anthem . During the third quarter break , there was a moment of celebration for all families in attendance that have been touched by autism , with the arena bowl lighting up blue with 15,000 blue glow foam sticks . Two families were also presented Jazz jerseys by Larry H . Miller Sports & Entertainment President Steve Starks and Vivint Smart Home founder and CEO Todd Pedersen at center court . WS
