MESSAGE FROM MMC PRESIDENT/CEO CLARK WHITWORTH:
PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE
In writing this message to all of the employees of
the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, I want to
express my gratitude to Gail and the Miller family
for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful
organization for more than 27 years. I am humbled
as I start in my new role as president and chief
executive officer of Larry H. Miller Management
Corporation.
One of the first thoughts that I’ve had as we
continue down the path that was started long ago,
is to look back at all that has occurred during the
time I’ve been employed by the Group. In doing this
I want to do more than just reflect on the history of
events, but recognize the founding principles of this great organization. It all
started on May 1, 1979 when Larry and Gail purchased the Toyota dealership
in Murray, Utah. From that point forward, due to hard work, sacrifice and the
many wonderful employees who have joined in their effort, the Group has
become one of the best family-owned businesses in the country.
I have been exposed to many of the decisions made as the Group has grown
and expanded through the years. Working directly with Larry for so many years
allowed me to see up close the values that have made this a great place to
work. Larry’s decisions were always based on the fundamentals of honesty and
integrity. He was an entrepreneur who enjoyed the challenge of hard work and
had a great love for his businesses and his employees. His loyalty to his family
and all those who worked for the Group were unmatchable.
When Larry passed the keys of leadership to Greg, it
was at the most difficult of economic times, but Greg
took the challenge and led the company to new levels of
performance that seemed out of reach. In a little over six
years, the size of the company—as measured by revenue
and number of employees—has nearly doubled. The
company has never been more financially sound. Greg, with
the support of Gail, continued to focus on the founding
principles of this organization ensuring that all things were
managed with professionalism and integrity.
As we look to the bright future, I want to encourage all employees of the Larry
H. Miller Group of Companies to join me in committing to Gail and the Miller
family that we will continue to follow the mission, vision, values and guiding
principles that were set forth and practiced by Larry and Gail.
Together, let’s continue to reach higher as the Larry H. Miller Group of
Companies grows and has an even greater impact for good in the communities
where we live, work and play. WS
