On March 12, 2013, The Zone Sports Network
announced its three stations would become NBC
Sports Radio affiliates. The affiliation serves to
not only strengthen the mix of local and national
programming, but features national commentators,
many of which will make regular contributions to
The Zone’s local programming.
“Through our superstation, The Zone has assembled
the finest sports programming in Utah with the
addition of NBC Sports Radio,” commented Chris
Baum, senior vice president of broadcasting for
Miller Sports Properties.
NBC Sports Radio is distributed through Dial Global,
and The Zone will be the broadcast home for NCAA
Men’s Basketball Championships and expanded
coverage of the National Football League, including
Monday Night Football and the Super Bowl.
The Zone Sports Network stations, broadcasting
from Salt Lake City, Utah, include 1280 The
Zone (KZNS-AM), 97.5 (KZNS-FM) and 960
(KOVO-AM). WS

JAZZ PARTICIPATES IN
COMMUNITY TREE PLANTING
The Jazz Bear, Nu Skin Jazz Dancers and 75
students from Murray High School planted trees at
the Kennecott Nature Center in April as part of a
partnership between TreeUtah—Salt Lake County’s
100 Million Trees program, AT&T, and the Utah Jazz
to improve the health and well-being of citizens
and communities in Utah through reforestation.
The community event was part of AT&T’s season
long “Assisting the Community” program. At
halftime of a Jazz game, AT&T officials presented
TreeUtah and Salt Lake County with a $10,000
donation to benefit their initiative to plant one
million trees before 2017. To further assist with the
effort, the first 10,000 fans in attendance that night
received free tree saplings, courtesy of AT&T. WS
