The workshop was the culmination of the Jazz’s National Mentoring Month activities. Earlier in the month, Jazz center Rudy Gobert hosted a group from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah at a Jazz game. Rudy and his Rudy’s Kids Foundation donated $5,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah—$1,000 for each of his blocks that evening. February 3, 2020: Local organizers announced 12 members of the Salt Lake All-Star Alliance to help financially support the staging of the 2023 NBA All-Star Game in Salt Lake City. Members of the alliance include America First Credit Union, Coca-Cola, Ford Motor Company, Larry H. Miller Dealerships, Mountain America Credit Union, NuSkin, Qualtrics, Toyota, University of Utah Health, Vivint Smart Home, WCF Insurance, and Zions Bank. The initiative ran Feb. 3 through Mar. 3 and encouraged healthy lifestyle habits among students. LHM Winning Spirit March/April 2020 February 4, 2020: Utah Jazz forward Georges Niang joined with American Heart Association representatives to host a CPR training for Junior Jazz youth at the Northwest Recreation Center. Georges’s eff orts to promote American Heart Month throughout February included the training event and CPR training kits for the 25 Junior Jazz participants to take home and instruct their families. Feb. 19, 2020: Weber High School, located in Pleasant View, Utah, inducted Steve Starks into its Weber High Warrior Hall of Fame. Steve is a graduate of the northern Utah secondary school. February 19, 2020: The Utah Jazz and Mountain America Credit Union announced that the fourth recipient of the Pass It Along award for the 2019- 20 Jazz season was The Adoption Exchange. The program has now contributed $175,000 to local nonprofits since its inception in 2013. February 25, 2020: Utah Jazz players, along with the Ziya Active Jazz Dancers and Jazz Bear, made their annual visit to Primary Children’s Hospital to visit children and their families. February 27, 2020: The Utah Jazz and dōTERRA teamed up to host Her Time to Lead, an educational seminar aimed at inspiring and developing the next generation of female leaders. Natalie Hill Jensen, a Broadway and film actor and the wife of Jazz assistant coach Alex Jensen, spoke to 300 female high school students. The seminar included workshop sessions and exercises designed to encourage young women to use their voices, overcome adversity, and advance as leaders in society. March 4, 2020: Courtney Palmer, director of finance and accounting for LHM Real Estate, was promoted to chief financial off icer for the organization. Courtney was also named as co-chair of the Gail Miller Women’s Leadership Group, along with Michelle Smith, who leads People & Culture for LHM Sports & Entertainment. April 1, 2020: School lunches.
