January 10 : The Utah Jazz vs . Cleveland Cavaliers home game was broadcast live in virtual reality ( VR ), as part of NBA Digital and NextVR ’ s season-long initiative to deliver weekly games in VR through NBA LEAGUE PASS — the first regular schedule of live games delivered in VR by a professional sports league .
January 12 : The Los Angeles Angels and Salt Lake Bees announced that Keith Johnson will return for his sixth season as Bees manager . Johnson will be joined on staff by pitching coach Erik Bennett , hitting coach Lou Marson , trainer Brian Reinker , and strength and conditioning coach Andrew Chappell .
January 16 : On behalf of LHM Sports & Entertainment and LHM Charities , Utah Jazz TV studio host Alema Harrington presented this year ’ s Larry H . Miller Youth Scholarship to M . Kasim BakenRa at the NAACP Salt Lake Branch ’ s annual Martin Luther King , Jr . Day memorial luncheon . The scholarship continues a tradition instituted by Larry H . Miller in collaboration with the NAACP more than 20 years ago .
January 18 : The Utah Jazz commemorated NBA FIT Week by holding a Jazz Fit clinic at South Davis Junior High . Jazz forward Boris Diaw , Jazz staff , America First Jazz Dancers , and the Jazz Stunt Team helped get the students moving and excited about fitness .
January 18 : The Salt Lake City Stars played two games during the 2017 NBA D-League Showcase in Mississauga , Ontario . The 22-game , five-day event ran from January 18 – 22 and featured all the league ’ s 22 teams playing at the Hershey Centre .
January 20 : The Utah Jazz and Mountain America Credit Union announced GiGi ’ s Playhouse Layton as this season ’ s third Pass It Along award recipient .
January 26 : The NBA announced that Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward was named as one of seven reserves on the Western Conference All-Star Team . It ’ s the first All-Star berth for Hayward and marked the first All-Star appearance by a Jazzman since 2011 .
February 7 : Larry H . Miller Dealerships announced the opening of Larry H . Miller ( LHM ) Ford Lincoln Draper on a 13.5-acre site on the southwest corner of 11400 South and Lone Peak Parkway in Draper , Utah . The dealership was formerly called Larry H . Miller Ford Lincoln Sandy and was previously located at 9000 South and 200 West .
February 21 : As part of the team ’ s alumni program , the Utah Jazz announced its 20th anniversary celebration of the franchise ’ s first NBA Western Conference Championship . Players , coaches , athletic trainers , and front office staff from the 1996 – 97 NBA season will be honored during halftime of the Jazz game against the New York Knicks on March 22 .
February 24 : The Salt Lake City Stars hosted a Stars Fit clinic , presented by University of Utah Health Care , on February 28 . Stars players Jaylen Bland , Michale Kyser , and Tyrone Wallace hosted a fitness clinic for 50 youth from the Midvale Boys & Girls Club to inspire them to be active and play together .
February 27 : Kim Casaday , was named general manager of Total Care Auto Powered by Landcar . Kim previously served as chief financial officer for LHM Real Estate , and prior to joining the LHM Group in 2014 , she spent 22 years with Zions Bank in a variety of leadership roles .
March 1 : Salt Lake Bees radio broadcaster Steve Klauke was named 2016 Utah Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association . The award is the third of Klauke ’ s career , having previously been honored in 1995 and 2014 .
March 8 : Megaplex Theatres held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting for a new Luxury Theatre in Holladay , Utah .
