Your“ Give Us Five” Dollars at Work

A glance at LHM charities at work in Idaho and Washington.

What happens to your money when you donate to LHM Charities via the Give Us Five program? Employee representatives in each of the LHM Group’ s 10 major markets serve on local committees that review and recommend donations to charities that help women and children in the areas of health and education. Winning Spirit lists its funding recipients( see sidebar), so you know where your donation dollars are going. In each issue, we’ ll also highlight two communities where LHM Charities is making a difference.

IDAHO
Employees in Boise, Idaho, are helping youth who struggle with Type 1 diabetes by supporting Camp Hodia( Idaho Diabetes Youth Programs). Through special camps, children ages 4-18 learn healthy lifestyle choices to manage their disease. Kids meet others like themselves and discover they’ re not alone. Give Us Five donations are helping low-income youth participate.
WASHINGTON
In Spokane, Wash., employees are working to decrease student dropout rates by supporting Communities in Schools of Spokane County. Youth at risk of not graduating often live in poverty with no money for basic needs. LHM Charities’ donation is bridging that gap by providing hygiene supplies. Early Life Speech and Learning offers free speech therapy to young children, and Give Us Five donations are supplying literacy kits so kids can practice at home with their parents.
