Megaplex Theatres Make Most of Blockbuster Summer

ive camels, exclusive movie marathons, and
more guest-friendly innovations—that’s how
the Megaplex team is spending the summer
celebrating the 2019 Year of the Guest.
For 200 movie fans, watching 22 movies non-
stop for nearly three days straight was the perfect
way to kick off summer blockbuster season.
Megaplex Theatres at The District was one of
only a dozen locations in North America to host
the 61-hour Marvel Movie Marathon leading
up to the release of Avengers: Endgame. The
District ranked near the top of all theatres in
the U.S. for the opening weekend of the film. In
fact, two out of three people in Utah who saw

Avengers: Endgame during its opening weekend
watched it at a Megaplex Theatres location.
The magic continued as lucky guests
attending the opening weekend of Disney’s
Aladdin got a chance to have their photo taken
with characters from the film and with a live
camel. Out of more than 4,400 complexes in
North America playing the film, Megaplex
had four locations rank in the top 20 on the
Memorial Day holiday.
Megaplex Theatres at Thanksgiving Point
hosted an exclusive Toy Story Marathon before
the release of the latest installment, Toy Story 4.
Megaplex also hosted hundreds of fans at
Thanksgiving Point for a traveling Toy Story
exhibit that included carnival games and
prizes. Other Megaplex locations hosted special
premiere night fan events.
Megaplex recently rolled out a new monthly
membership program called MegaPass. The
new service entitles guests to see two movies
per month for a low monthly fee while enjoying
discounts on food and snacks. MegaPass
members also save when they invite friends
and family to join them for the opening of films
like Spider-Man: Far from Home or Disney’s
Lion King remake that are slated to roar into
Megaplex soon. ◆
