E AT AT G / TE ONE BIKE. TWO WHEELS. A MILLION WAYS TO SHARE. Entering its third year, the Million Miles at Miller charity bike ride has a lot to celebrate. Mountain America Credit Union is joining the ride as the presenting sponsor and has committed its support of the event for the next three years. “Having a sponsor like Mountain America Credit Union allows the event to reach even more people and have a bigger impact on the charities we support,” said Anne Marie Gunther, director of special events for the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies. Riders can choose from a number of options which begin and end on the race track at Miller Motorsports Park while touring varied distances through Tooele County. Families and riders can also choose to ride laps on the 4.2 mile track and enjoy refreshments, food, and a fun zone for the kids. This year’s event will take place Saturday, September 28, 2013. WS SUMMER SAFETY SURVIVAL GUIDE As we begin to enjoy all the wonderful activities summer affords, here are a few reminders that will help us have a fun and safe summer: 1 If the activity involves a swimming pool and children, remember to constantly supervise the pool itself every 20 seconds, and make sure you can reach the pool in 10 seconds. Adults should remain within an arm’s reach of infants, toddlers and weaker swimmers. T 2 Keep grills at least 10 feet from any structure. Grilling mishaps cause more than 8,300 fires and send 3,000 people to the emergency room each year. Always have a spray bottle of water or fire extinguisher handy, never use gasoline or kerosene to light a charcoal fire, and never leave the grill unattended. 3 Carefully inspect backyard playground equipment. Make sure equipment is anchored safely in the ground, and all equipment pieces are in good working order. 4 The sun is generally strongest between 10 AM-2 PM. Apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15, and do so 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours and after swimming or sweating. 5 Recognize the signs of heatstroke or exhaustion— fatigue, confusion, extreme thirst, cramping and dizziness or nausea. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated. By taking a few extra moments of preparation and caution, most dangers and mishaps can be avoided. On behalf of the Larry H. Miller Companies, we wish you all a wonderful and safe summer. WS
