Empowering Women Leaders
LHM Group Employees Graduate from YWCA’s YWEmpowered Program
G
roup employees Madison Calder, corporate
partnerships service manager for LHM
Sports & Entertainment, and Ashley Kelson,
Utah Jazz Dancers director, were nominated as
members of the Gail Miller Women’s Leadership
Group to participate in the YWCA’s 2019
YWEmpowered program. They graduated
along with a diverse group of women from the
community in September 2019.
This year-long professional leadership
development program for women ages 18 to 35
features eight half-day leadership development
sessions with field experts and two YWCA special
events focused on leadership. It is designed
to strengthen personal leadership skills, build
confidence, and explore the myriad ways women
can be inclusive leaders in the workplace, their
personal life, or in their community.
Ashely highlighted one of her key takeaways,
saying, “My favorite course was Boundary Setting
and Self Care. It can be extremely hard to keep
a work/life balance, especially during the NBA
season. It was comforting to hear successful
women sharing tips and letting us all know it’s
okay to say no and take time for yourself.”
Madison said, “I had an incredible experience
being part of the 2019 YWEmpowered cohort.
The program is such a good mix of networking
events, workshops, mentorship, and leadership
development, and I could not be more grateful for
the opportunity.” ◆

Laughing All the Way
Another Triumphant Christmas Carole Sing-Along
A
s they have for 35 years now, families
poured into Vivint Smart Home Arena on
December 16, spreading out and filling about
half of the available seats to sing, dance, cheer,
see Santa—and hope to see their own faces
on the jumbo screen. As they settled in with a
free donut and ready to sing along to holiday
favorites, the whole arena sparkled with
blinking lights and bright eyes.
After a welcome from Miller family member
Zane Miller, Emcee Jason Hewlett kept the
show going for a night that delighted old-
faithfuls and newcomers alike.

LHM Winning Spirit January/February 2020
Accompaniment was provided by the West
Valley Symphony of Utah directed by Donny
Gilbert, and guest conductor Sterling Poulson
kept everyone on beat. Every cellphone
flashlight swayed in the air as guest performer
Ryan Innes treated the crowd to soulful
performances of “Silent Night” and “Hallelujah.”
It was the most wonderful sing-along time of
the year! ◆
