Bob Restrepo has a broad and deep background in the property casualty
insurance industry, encompassing both national and regional companies.
Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to
the independent agency system. His varied experience includes senior executive
roles at Aetna, Travelers, Hanover, and most recently with Main Street America
Group in Jacksonville, Florida.
Bob has served as chair of the Property Casualty Insurance Association of
America in 2014 (PCI). He is a member of the Columbus Partnership and serves
on the board of directors of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, The Institutes,
the Insurance Information Institute, Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD)
and Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited. Bob previously served as chairman of the
American Insurance Association, and he and his wife, Mary Frances, served as
co-chairs of the 2011 campaign of the United Way of Central Ohio.
After graduating from Yale University with a degree in English in 1972, Bob joined Aetna Life and Casualty Company.
He left the company in 1996 as senior vice president of personal lines to become president and chief executive officer,
personal lines, for St. Paul Travelers Companies, where he remained until 1998. From 1998 to 2004, Bob served Allmerica
Financial Corporation, departing as their president and CEO. He then joined the Main Street America Group as senior vice
president of insurance operations, where he remained until joining the State Auto Insurance Companies in February 2006.
Bob and his wife, Mary Frances, have three daughters and live in Columbus.
