SALT LAKE BEES
RECEIVE PRESTIGIOUS
NATIONAL AWARD
FRANCHISE RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE
Baseball America presented the Salt Lake Bees with the
2015 Bob Freitas Award as the top Triple-A franchise in
the country at the Baseball Winter Meetings in Nashville,
Tennessee on December 8. The award recognizes excellence
in the operation of Minor League baseball franchises with
a focus on business success, operational practices and
community involvement.
“It is an honor to be selected for the 2015 Bob Freitas Award,” said
Bees general manager Marc Amicone. “This award is a testament
to the combined efforts of every part-time and full-time employee
on our staff. It would also not be possible without the dedicated
ownership of the Miller family who provide wonderful leadership
and are committed to making the Bees a first-class organization.”
Since 1994, Salt Lake has drawn more than 11 million fans to
Smith’s Ballpark, including 470,760 last season. The Triple-A
affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, the Bees have drawn at least
450,000 fans in nine of the last 10 seasons and are the second
most attended sports attraction in Utah, behind only the NBA’s
Utah Jazz.
“We are incredibly grateful for the outstanding support we get
from our fans. They are crucial to making Smith’s Ballpark a
special place in our community.” Amicone added. “We also want
to thank the Angels for providing us with players and coaches
that are great examples on and off the field.”
