MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER:
REMEMBERING
A new year is, for most of us, a time for
looking forward--a time for planning, for
improving, for preparing for the future
with a new brightness of hope, and for
living life with more resolve. But it is also
a time for remembering.
Remembering is an exercise that
marks the milestones in our lives that
have brought us from the past into
the present, one by one. When we
remember, we recount those events that
have given us strength and helped us grow and progress. As we
look back across the years we remember the occasions that have
shaped our lives, whether easy or hard, good or bad, chosen or
undesired. All of these experiences have made us who and what
we are today, and we become stronger because of them.
Another reason for remembering is that it often leads to
gratitude: gratitude for our close relationships, for our beloved
family members and for our very lives. Somehow the good times
and the happiness we experience overshadow the sadness and
the hardships of our lives. If we learn to focus on the forward
progress we make as we move through our experiences we will
likely develop gratitude for everything we face and everything
we experience.
As I “remember” the past, I’m grateful for my parents. They
struggled mightily to provide the necessities of life like food,
clothing and shelter but were still able to raise good, kind,
generous, grounded children. They taught us the important
things in life and to focus more on “doing and being” than on
“having and getting.”
I “remember” learning to be independent and responsible and
how to stand on my own two feet and to be accountable for my
own actions.
I “remember” the value of good friends and that you have to be
a friend to have a friend.
I “remember” the importance of loving and supporting my
husband and feeling loved by him as we traveled life together.
I “remember” the joy of receiving each child into our family and
how miraculous it was to watch them grow and learn.
I “remember” starting our own business and working together
with common goals of providing security for our family, our
employees and others as we grew from one business to over 80
businesses.
I “remember” the growth from the trials that I had to
face as I learned to find my way alone.
I “remember” the feelings of joy in forging a new
relationship and a new marriage with a wonderful
friend who stands by my side and encourages and
loves me unconditionally everyday.
I “remember” that I have much to be grateful for just
as do each of you. May you be blessed with all the
best blessings of a New Year and by the memories of
years past. And may you be enriched each new day
you are given.

And remember, “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It makes what we have enough, and more.”
