LHM
CHARITIES
NOVEMBER 2014 UPDATE
Larry H. Miller (LHM) Charities is actively
improving the communities where Miller
companies conduct business by donating
to charitable programs that benefit
women and children in the areas of health
and education.
A contribution made in Idaho to Junior
Achievement is benefiting children in the
Boise area, where approximately 600
at-risk elementary school students are
receiving financial literacy instruction.
In Tucson, Arizona, a donation was
granted to The Symphony Women’s
Association to provide music lessons to
low-income children. A contribution was
also made to the Emerge Center Against
Domestic Abuse. In the Phoenix and Mesa
markets, 10 local nonprofits received
funding as part of a 10-days of Giving
initiative. The Salvation Army’s Forgotten
Angels program and Camp Incredible, a
family-oriented program offered through
the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS,
were both beneficiaries. Other grant
recipients include MentorKids, Upward, St.
Mary’s Food Bank, A New Leaf, Arizona
Brainfood, ICM Food & Clothing Bank,
Desert Mission Food Bank and United
Food Bank.
In Colorado Springs, a contribution
to The Home Front Cares is providing
emergency aid to military personnel
and families in need. Tessa’s Safehouse
(a domestic violence shelter) and
Catholic Charities of Central Colorado
also received support. Donations were
distributed in Denver to Children’s
Hospital Colorado and Safehouse Denver.
Boulder-area contributions were made to
Attention Homes, which helps homeless
youth, and the Second Wind Fund, which
assists teens in crisis.
LHM Charities is making an impact in
Utah as well. Funding granted to the
English Language Learning Center
of Cache Valley is helping immigrant
women become literate, and a
donation to Friday’s Kids Respite
is assisting families of children
with disabilities. Support has also
been provided to the University
of Utah, Midvale Arts Council,
North Davis Junior High School,
Renaissance Academy, Teens Act,
Polizzi Clinic, Gifted Music School
and Salt Lake Acting Company.
The Spokane general managers presented a check to the
Union Gospel Mission to help fund their annual City-Wide
Thanksgiving Dinner, and then helped serve the meal.
