LHM CHARITIES december 2013 update Larry H. Miller (LHM) Charities continues enriching the lives of others by distributing donations to nonprofit programs that benefit women and children in the communities where our companies conduct business. Hundreds received assistance over the holidays as contributions were granted to help those in need. Generous donations made to Salt Lake Education Foundation, Provo School District Foundation and Ogden School Foundation provided clothing and essentials to low-income schoolchildren in Utah. Firemen & Friends for Kids received a grant for Bear Hugs for Kids, an annual program hosted by the Utah Jazz mascot, Bear, in which volunteers help local underprivileged children shop for Christmas gifts. The Tucson Police Officers Association (AZ) received funding for Shop With a Cop. In Phoenix, Arizona, underserved kids received Christmas toys via a donation to the Salvation Army’s Forgotten Angel program, and the St. Vincent de Paul food bank also received support. Contributions made by LHM Charities will continue to impact our communities well beyond the holiday season. Funding granted to New Day (Albuquerque, NM), is helping homeless youth develop life skills, and a grant to Ryan House (Phoenix, AZ) is providing respite and palliative care to children with life-threatening illnesses. A donation to Women’s and Children’s Free Restaurant and Community Kitchen (Spokane, WA) is providing food to those in need. Support given to Work Options for Women (Denver, CO) is improving job opportunities for underprivileged women, and a contribution to the Arvada Community Food Bank is helping lowincome children. A donation toward school supplies is benefiting elementary students at Centennial Academy of Arts (Littleton, CO). In Utah, a grant to the Assistance League of Salt Lake City is enabling underserved children to receive dental care, and a contribution to Utah Partners for Health (Salt Lake City) is assisting those in need of medical care. Families who adopt abused children are receiving respite services through a contribution LHM Charities made to the Family Support & Treatment Center (Orem), and grief counseling is being offered to families in Utah County via a donation to Canary Garden. Other Utah nonprofit organizations receiving charitable funding include: United Way, University of Utah, Community Action Services and Food Bank, Lifelong Learning Center and Senior Charity Care.
