Laser Distance Measure When planning which machine to use, how high you need to go and how far you may have to boom out are major factors. Winner Access have a range of simple to use, hand held laser distance measures that will accurately measure how far up and out you need to reach to complete your job.
Anemometer
All access platforms have a manufacturers recommended wind tolerance. Always check the recommended wind speed for the machine you are using. This can be found in the operators manual and on stickers on the machine. Remember that wind can increase by as much as 50 % at 20 metres above ground level. The only reliable method for checking is by a hand-held wind meter( or anemometer). Winner Access have a range of anemometers available to purchase to aid in keeping you safe whilst working at height.
Beaufort Scale Always refer to the operators manual for the machine’ s maximum safe wind speed usage.
0 Calm( 0-1mph) Calm, smoke rises vertically 1 Light air( 1-3mph) Direction of wind shown by smoke 2 Light breeze( 4-7mph) Wind felt on face; leaves rustle 3 Gentle breeze( 8-12mph) Leaves and small twigs in constant motion; wind extends light flag 4 Moderate breeze( 13-18mph) Raises dust and loose paper; small branches are moved 5 Fresh breeze( 19-24mph) Small trees in leaf begin to sway; crested wavelets form on inland waterways 6 Strong breeze( 25-31mph) Large branches in motion; umbrellas used with difficulty 7 Near gale( 32-38mph) Whole trees in motion; inconvenience felt when walking against wind 8 Gale( 39-46mph) Breaks twigs off trees; generally impedes progress 9 Strong gale( 47-54mph) Slight structural damage occurs( chimney pots and slates removed)
