BOEING 777

Finn walks you through the world of the boeing 777, how it flys and what it is.

The Boeing 777, the largest passenger plane that has ever been built, it can fly up to 17,000 km and is large enough to carry 314 to 451 people across the world. This monster of a plane costs up to 350 million dollars.

The big question here is how do these planes stay airborne while being 300,000 kg’s in weight? These planes are so extremely well designed and engineered that the wings are designed to lift the plane off the ground and up in the air, the faster air goes up and over the wings causing drag when the plane is in the air and the slower air goes under the wings to cause lift. With lift and drag the plane will be stabilized in the air until the pilot lifts up one flap on a wing that allows it to turn left or right. In the air, if the plane is going to land, it will lower its engine power output so the gravity can help the plane descend to land. When the plane is taking off, it will have its wheels out- this creates drag so the pilot detracts the wheels once the plane has taken off. The wheels make the plane face up so that when it takes off the air will go underneath the wings to pull the plane safely off the ground and into the air . Even if the engines stopped working, the 60 metres of wing span will allow it to glide to safety. The reason the boeing 777’s wings are so long is because if they were smaller the plane would struggle because there wouldn't be enough lift.

Flight services such as Emirates, United Airlines, Air France and Singapore airlines use boeing 777 planes to transport passengers across the world. In any one of these companies planes will have some very luxurious features inside them. Most planes will have three different classes such as; First class, Business class and economy class. First class and business class, will usually get better seating, better screen performance and better flight service. Economy class will normally get a worse screen performance, service and seating, but is still fine to fly with.

The Boeing 777 was introduced on June 7th 1995 by a company called Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The Boeing 777 was an improvement of the 767, 747 and the 737, it improved in many ways, it has gotten longer by 33 metres in total, and has improved its wingspan by 9 metres from the 76m7. The boeing 777 has to be one of the best inventions ever thought of, just look at the!
