Just 40 minutes by train from central London and set across 2,500 acres on the Kent and Surrey border, the vineyard feels wonderfully removed from the bustle of modern day life. Here, vines stretch across the landscape, woodland frames the horizon, farmers graze their livestock and time seems to slow down.
Squerryes is a family-owned estate with roots stretching back nine generations. Above the front door of Squerryes Court, stained glass carries the family motto: Licet Esse Beatis, meaning‘ it is permitted to be joyful’. This philosophy shapes everything they do, from the vineyard to the restaurant, and you only need to spend an afternoon on the estate for it to begin to make sense.
At the heart of Squerryes is vintage English sparkling wine crafted exclusively from estate-grown grapes. Each release reflects a single harvest, translating an English summer into fine, persistent bubbles, vibrant freshness and elegant structure. This is wine with precision and personality shaped by chalk soils similar to those found across The Channel, yet distinctly expressive of its Kentish home.
A visit begins in the vineyard. Guided tours and tastings offer insight into how terroir, vines, climate and craft come together. In the Cellar Door, you can explore the range of Squerryes sparkling wines alongside a Master of Wine curated selection of English and international still wines.
