BALFOUR WINERY
Standing on the grounds surrounding their home in 2002 , co-founders Richard and Leslie Balfour-Lynn remarked : “ Why don ’ t we plant a few vines ?” The wine they went on to produce made waves in the wine world . Balfour Brut Rosé 2007 , a product of the very first harvest , became the first English wine to win a gold medal and trophy at the International Wine Challenge . This year , the winemakers will produce over 800,000 bottles of England ’ s finest wines . Not bad for an endeavour that began with the simple maxim : “ If we can ’ t sell it , we ’ ll drink it .”
