Above the front door at Squerryes Court sits the family motto : ‘ Licet Esse Beatis ’, meaning ‘ it ’ s permitted to be joyful ’. This has been the spirit of the 2,500-acre Squerryes ancestral estate for 300 years . Today , we say we ’ re in the business of creating joy . It influences all we do , from bottling that joy in the form of fine vintage sparkling wine , to the places we welcome people to enjoy the simple pleasures in life - delicious food and wine .

Our chalk-rich vineyard sits high on the North Downs in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty . At 150 metres above sea level , we ’ re onedegree Celsius cooler than most vineyards in South East England , giving us a long cool summer . Our vines flourish in this longer growing season , producing fruit that has the perfect balance of natural sweetness and acidity . It ’ s only this fruit we use to make our English sparkling wine .
Squerryes was recognised in the top 50 wines in the world in 2021 when we won the ‘ Best English Sparkling Wine ’ trophy in the International Wine Challenge and ‘ Best in Show ’ in the 2021 Decanter World Wine Awards . Our latest achievement was winning ‘ Best in Class ’ at the CSWWC 2023 Awards for our Brut 2014 in magnum . We are also proud to be the only English wine estate to have won a gold medal for five
