way . Bonheur is the French for happiness , and so the name really is just a reflection on how my readers and me want to live - happily ! We publish firstperson opinion pieces , interviews with leaders in their field , travel features , food and drink content , and a sprinkling of fashion - all with a leaning towards ethical consumption and women ’ s empowerment , because I believe that true happiness can ’ t be achieved when it ’ s at the expense of others or the planet .
What do you see as the main challenges for English wine growers ? While I do occasionally write for trade publications , my main audience are consumers . As such , my awareness of challenges will always be more consumerfocused . With that in mind , I would say that price is probably the biggest hurdle the industry has to overcome . I think there needs to be a big push by the industry to make consumers understand why things are priced the way that they are and convey what they get for their money .
Tell us about Bonheur Living ? Bonheur Living is my recently launched online lifestyle magazine for women who enjoy the good times and try to do good things on the way . I felt there was a gap in the market for women like me , who wanted more uplifting content in a real , not saccharine ,
What ’ s your favourite thing about visiting Kent vineyards ? It ’ s not called the Wine Garden of England for nothing , and just like the best gardens , there is a vast and diverse array of things to see . Each producer has their hallmark , and it ’ s fascinating to learn about each one and how they make their wines to truly express themselves and their vision . There is a real personal touch with the vineyards in Kent - which you can feel when you meet the winemakers and people behind the scenes ; such passion comes across . Their passion isn ’ t only confined to wine though - the understanding and closeness to the land also expands into the accompanying restaurants where you can sample lots of local produce - it ’ s such a lovely way to while away a few hours . Plus , with it being one of the warmer regions of the country , you can walk through the vines at all times of the year , which is nice !
What future do you see for Kent wine ? An exciting one ! The quality of Kentish wines is high - with the terroir and climate of the region meaning it produces some worldclass wines . This is a foundation that Kent can only but build upon .
