Westwell was the first English vineyard to make an amphora-aged wine , and the first to successfully keg wine . We have continued to experiment - from making piquette using our waste grape pressings to producing less traditional styles including pet nats and skin contact wines . We are immensely proud of the traditional method sparkling wines we produce , too - our NV sparkling Pelegrim with its rich , fruit-forward palate and signature Westwell salinity has won against Champagnes in blind tastings many times . Our Special Cuvee and Blanc de Blancs are aged for a longer period on lees which lends them elegance , length and balance .
All our wines are made on site from fruit grown on our estate . This gives us complete control of the full process and ensures an end product that we can be really proud of . We are winners of multiple national and international awards for our wines including IWC Best English Sparkling Wine Trophy , a Gold Sommelier Wine Award and in 2021 , a gold medal for our Amphora Ortega .
Our future is bright . Over the next few years , our production will increase as our newer plantings reach maturity . We are also delighted to now be able to welcome visitors for tours and tastings with a new cellar door space where we can host guests and offer small cheese and charcuterie plates to accompany our wines .
