I would like to share my
experience for this year ’s
Father’s Day but before I do, I
would like to share a bit of our
experience last year. Even though
we have been Rosemont parents for
3 years, last years Father’s Day
was the 1 st that we were able to
attend. Being the first time, our kids
were a bit shy so during the games,
they didn’t really participate. I
wanted them to be more confident
in joining activities so I knew I had
to be their role model. When the
school asked me to be the Captain
for Red Team this year, even though
I had my doubts, I said yes.
Fast forward to Father’s Day 2019,
our experience was truly meaningful
and something we would fondly look
back on. During Father’s Day, there
were 3 key events - 1 st was the
entrance parade for teams. Being
the team captain, I had to carry the
red flag with my kids and lead the
cheer for the red team. At first, I
didn’t really want to lead the cheer
but I was thinking that this was a
good time to show my kids that if I
can do something like this, which I
don’t usually do, it will help build up
their confidence. So even if it was
“nakakahiya”, I did it.
The 2 nd part of the event was the
games, I helped organize the Red
Team for the different games. When
it was finally our time to participate, I
told them that it didn’t matter if we
won or not. The more important
thing is for them to try the best.
I didn’t want to put any pressure on
them; I just wanted them to have
fun. So we participated and had a
lot of fun.
The last part of the event was the
father & daughter(son) cheerleading
competition. The kids had their own
part, where they had a dance
number and the dads also had their
own part. You would rarely see me
dance when I’m outside but being
the team captain for Red Team, I
had to be a good example, not only
for my kids but to the other fathers
as well. I also followed my advice to
my kids so I tried my best.
