n e ws ST. JOHN’S COLLEGE S t John’s College, University of Queensland, is home to 320 students from Queensland, other parts of Australia and overseas. The accommodation is located in nine separate blocks on the main college campus. Over the summer break, it was discovered that more than 60 flyscreens needed replacement. As flyscreens have a short life expectancy in the College environment, it was decided to upgrade to Prowler Proof security screens with a 10 year replacement warranty. The College had previously replaced some screens in the accommodation blocks with Prowler Proof ForceField® security screens, and after more than a year, hadn’t had any problems. With a limited budget for this stage of replacements, the College chose Prowler Proof Protec screens. Protec, with its welded aluminium frame and perforated aluminium sheet insert, provided a cost saving, while still delivering top level security and lasting quality - without compromising airflow and visibility. The order for 62 window screens was placed just before the Christmas shutdown. With Prowler Proof’s commitment to delivering on time and as specified, all screens arrived onsite seven days later, ready for installaton. The screens have given the College confidence that they have created a safer place for their residents - by keeping out intruders, while still letting air and light in. Wayne Cook, currently National Sales Manager OEM in Australia, has been appointed General 30 Australian Window Association Manager OEM Australia reporting to Simon Ellis, President New Zealand Group. ASSA ABLOY New Zealand has traditionally had a great focus on the OEM channel, both in New Zealand and Australia as well as in export markets like the United States and Japan. With this specialisation, the business has shown strong continued growth over the years. An important success factor is their ability to create unique solutions tailored to each OEM customer’s specific requirements. “This is a very exciting time for the business and allows our team to concentrate on our primary OEM focus which is adding value and point of difference to products via customisation and clean sheet design. “We will base the new business platform on the Interlock model which has proven to be successful in the past; it is simple, our customers understand it and more importantly it allows us to deliver quality projects in a shorter timeline,” comments Wayne. The company advises it will be business as usual for day-today operations and customer interaction with ASSA ABLOY Australia. “This change is specifically to ensure that we develop proprietary and unique products faster to meet the needs and expectations of our customers,” says Wayne.
