Lunchtime concerts
A Lunchtime Concert Series featuring emerging talent continues in the North Transept , from 1.15- 1.50pm , with a particular emphasis on providing performance opportunities for young local diploma-level musicians . Performances feature a wide range of musicians from Bedales , Peter Symonds , St Swithun ’ s and Winchester College . The next concerts are on October 12 ( featuring Music Scholars from Winchester College , a varied programme , including Bach ’ s 3rd Brandenburg Concerto ), October 26 and November 2 .

Spooky times
Take part in # SpookyWinch , a city-wide Halloween-themed Spooky Word Hunt this October and during half-term . Winchester Business Improvement District ( BID ) is organising a free fun-filled , Halloween-themed trail , for kids and big kids alike . The # SpookyWinch Word Hunt runs from October 16-31 , with a chance to enter a prize draw to win a Halloween-inspired hamper . Seek out nine Halloween-themed words hidden in colourful pumpkin signs displayed in the windows of businesses across the city and return completed activity sheets to either the Visitor Information Centre or Discovery Centre ( children may redeem a free goody bag subject to availability ).

Ghoulish goings-on
Half term features family fun for all at Hampshire Cultural Trust ’ s museums and galleries , including Winchester City Museum . Get set for a frightfully fun half term from October 23-31 with Halloween hijinks and ghoulish goings-on , spooktacular late night openings , terrifying trails , spine-chilling storytelling and creepy crafts . Winchester City Museum has organised Lighting the Home Through the Ages ( October 25 and 27 ); pop along to discover what type of candle Romans used at home . Tudor music performed by Courtlye Musick takes place on October 23 , 11.30am-3pm ( a chance to learn about Tudor instruments ), making paper lanterns and a paper plate pumpkin decoration are just some of the craft activities on offer ( children must be accompanied by an adult ).
