Spring is my favourite season in Winchester , with parks and gardens bursting into flower and warmer days encouraging winers and diners to go alfresco .
On a lazy Sunday , there ’ s nothing that I enjoy more than browsing the arts and crafts market on High Street before heading on for a pub lunch somewhere that has a window big enough to people-watch .
People are at the heart of this issue . Nearly every one of our editorial pages features someone local who is doing something really brilliant - from inspirational people doing their day-job , to community heroes who have made a difference to others .
This issue , we ’ ve interviewed Su Browning or ‘ Pom Pom Su ’ as she ’ s known at Winchester parkrun . Rain or shine , Su cheers on runners on a 5k route around River Park with glittery pom-poms . She ’ s one of those city characters who makes a big difference to others .
It ’ s going ‘ above and beyond ’ that makes the city businesses who advertise with us so special too . Really good service counts , a smile definitely counts and expert knowledge makes shopping , eating out , buying a car , attending an event - and lots of other things besides - all the more enjoyable as a result .
Buying ‘ local ’ – whether it is advertising with us or buying from our advertisers – not only supports the local economy but boosts the people behind the brand too .
We champion ‘ local ’ every day in the good news stories we run on our social media . Do join our rapidly-growing community at @ winchestermag and # winchester . magazine where we have over 11,000 followers .
Enjoy !
