Tell us about earthian ...
Earthian stocks planet-friendly products and refills . You can pick up essentials at affordable prices without single-use packaging . All our food is organic , our coffee is locally-roasted and our liquid refills are plant-based , without harsh chemicals .
What inspired you to set up ?
My own experience of living low-waste at home .
Where is your go-to for recycling unwanted clothes and shoes ?
Any of our brilliant city charity shops . The Salvation Army also has clothing banks across the city .
And where do you take unwanted household items ?
Emmaus in Bar End , which takes furniture , electricals and bric-a-brac .
What city recycle point might locals be unaware of ?
There are now places that take batteries for recycling , including WH Smith , Tesco and Sainsbury ’ s . The O2 shop takes mobile phones and routers and Currys takes electrical items as well as toner and ink cartridges . Tesco in Winnall has several outside and indoor recycling points . And Boots takes contact lenses and make-up cases .
What ’ s your go-to online for giving things away ?
I need a whisk , on Facebook , which is very local . You can also request items .
And is there anywhere you can take other items not collected in the city ?
I ’ ve been working with Lara ’ s Recycling Group ; the shop is one of her mini-hubs . I ’ m accepting plastic milk-bottle tops and bread bags and hope to expand into other recycling in the future . Lara is amazing : she collects a huge volume of recycling to raise money for charity . You can sign up to her page on Facebook .
