T
he Warden’s Stables are among the original
medieval buildings of Winchester College.
Construction began in 1391 and was completed a
decade later. It is one of the finest surviving medieval
stables in England and the timber crown-post roof is of
particular importance.
The Stables were used to keep horses until the early
20th century and then served as a games room for
pupils and a bicycle store. In 2015-2016 the building
was converted into a state-of-the-art museum for the
College’s collections.
