As well as offering a glimpse into the latest discoveries and research on the objects themselves, it covers the life of the collections in the form of our exhibitions, acquisitions, new online resources, and engagement with communities beyond the College. In addition to the developments recounted in the following pages, a standout event of the academic year has been the generous gift of Chinese porcelain from Anthony du Boulay (Du Boulay’s, 1943–46). Plans to display this tremendous acquisition are well underway, and we look forward to reporting back next year. This issue comes at a strange moment. One of the busiest years for Winchester’s collections was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic, forcing the College to close its doors in March. In the meantime, we’ve been working to make our collections more accessible online and planning for the safe return of our visitors. We hope you enjoy reading about our year, and warmly encourage those interested in the collections to get in touch and find out more.
