Willow & Clo Spring/Summer 2017 | Page 34

Chloe Townsend, designer and founder of Willow & Clo, is from Howth in County Dublin. Chloe learnt the art of jewellery craftsmanship in Rome's Scuola Di Oreficeria, where she spent each day perfecting her technique.

The next step of her creative journey was to London to study design in the GIA (Gemological Institute of America), in order to learn the skill of transforming her inspirations into jewellery pieces. While there she discovered she had a boundless curiosity for gemstones, a passion which she has kept ignited, and she continually strives to deepen her knowledge of them.

She loves going to Jaipur in India as she finds it’s a treasure trove of many unique and unusual gemstones which have inspired many of her collections. It is the unique blend of Indian gemstones and Irish design that make Chloe’s collections so noteable. All of the stones used in Willow & Clo's jewellery have been hand selected by Chloe herself and hand cut to fit each individual piece.

Chloe draws her inspiration from nature and the beauty of the various landscapes she has encountered on her travels. She endeavours to celebrate the meaning of jewellery and the fact that with each piece there is a story to be told and a connection to be made.

Chloe's designs are minimal and discreet with a timeless quality. Her pieces are renowned for their high quality and handcraftmanship as each piece is entirely hand made using 22kt gold plating on sterling silver. All of Chloe's pieces are hallmarked in the prestigious Dublin Castle Assay office with her own goldsmith makers mark, the Irish hallmark and the metal & purity mark.
