Throwing Objects
Students may not throw objects , such as rocks or snowballs , anywhere on campus . Discipline points will be determined according to the intent of the thrower and any damage caused by the thrown object .
Games of Chance
Any raffle or other game of chance must be approved by the administration . Contests where the total prizes or receipts ( larger of the two ) exceed $ 100 and / or solicits money from anyone off the Williamson campus are not permitted .
Cell Phones
During the academic day ( from Morning Lineup to Evening Lineup / Weekend Dismissal ), students may carry cell phones , but they must remain in a backpack or pocket ( hip / belt holders are not permitted ). Students may not use cell phones unless authorized by a faculty / staff member . Inside their dorms , students may use cell phones during lunchtime . Phone-enabled watches or similar devices are considered cell phones and may not be USED during the periods specified in this policy .
Cell phones may not be used between periods and in the Dining Room , including during meals or by KPs / Servers on break . In addition , unless authorized by the supervisor , students may not use cell phones during Evening Study Hall , Saturday grounds detail , or whenever under Williamson supervision on- or off-campus during the academic day , including field trips , community service projects , Service Week , etc . During exams , quizzes , or similar occurrences , faculty / staff may require students to surrender their phones temporarily . At all times , students are responsible for their phones and their proper use . The school is not responsible for the security of student phones . Any continued disturbance caused by ringing , alerts , vibration , etc . is considered a violation of this policy . Each violation is a 4-point violation .
Other Electronic Devices ( MP3 players , iPods , etc . – phones excluded )
During the academic day , students may only use personal electronic devices in their dorms during lunch or in those classes where instructors have given permission for their use . Otherwise , personal electronic devices may not be used , including transit to class or in any work environment ( during shop , on KP Duty , Serving Duty , or Grounds Detail ). Each violation is a 4-point violation . The college accepts no responsibility for the safety or security of such devices . If any problem develops with these items or their use , it is the owner ’ s responsibility .
Miscellaneous Rules
1 . During free time outside of the academic day , grassy areas on campus may be enjoyed by students in a recreational manner . Outside of free time recreational use , students should use the paved walkways to get around campus and not walk across the grass . Students may not drive equipment or walk across the grass for the sake of shortening a trip . Obviously , students must walk on the grass if it is called for in their job assignment .
2 . Students may not spit on walkways , roadways , or in buildings .
3 . Other than during their assigned flag detail , students may not use the front entrance of Rowan Hall .
4 . Students may not use the first-floor hallways of Rowan Hall during the academic day , except for college business .
5 . Students may not leave papers , books , bags , jackets , or any other items lying around Rowan Hall , but must use the clothes hooks in the Lower Level of Rowan Hall for this purpose . Students who leave belongings in the lower-level hallway for excessive periods may be cited .
