All clothes must be clean , neat , in good condition , and worn properly . Shirttails must be tucked in , top shirt buttons buttoned , and ties tied tightly . All buttons on clothing must be buttoned ( e . g ., pants pockets and buttoned-down collars ), and long sleeves may not be rolled up . Hats , worn with the bill facing forward , are acceptable outside , but may not be worn inside any buildings ( except shop , the Restall Sports Center , and the dorms ). Clothing that does not match or fails to present a professional image because of inappropriate colors , styles , or fabric patterns are unacceptable .
The following are not part of Classroom Dress and are not permitted :
• Hooded sweatshirts
• Head coverings ( bandanas , do rags , headbands , wave caps , etc .)
• Headphones and earbuds
• Exposed necklaces
• Earrings and visible piercings ( includes ALL mouth piercings )
• Lanyards hanging out of pockets ( ID lanyards must be worn around the neck )
Snow Exception : Students are permitted to wear boots during the academic day when there is 1 ” or more snow accumulation on the walkways .
Shop Dress { 7 / 14 / 12 } The required dress for shop is proper work clothes as designated by each shop instructor however , Shop Dress must be in good condition and functional with no large holes or tears . Although individual shops and departments may have additional requirements , the following basic Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ) is mandatory for all departments and shops :
• Safety shoes
• Safety glasses , on person
• Hearing protection , on person
• Gloves , on person
• Hardhats on all construction projects
Rings and bracelets are not permitted anytime a student is in shop due to the specific safety risks associated with these items .
Students are expected to travel to and from Shop in Classroom Dress . Each Shop has a locker room where students will change into and out of Shop Dress for their Shop period . Shop Dress is not permitted during an Assembly Hour period and may not be worn in the Dining Room .
