Williamson Student Handbook 2023-24 | Page 37

Juniors should be aware that the use of ANY leave privilege in the evening does not excuse a student from a detail , dorm meeting , game / practice requirements , etc . Additionally , any Junior who was confined to the dorm by Health Services that day or is on Academic or Disciplinary Probation may not leave campus in the evening .
Monday Morning Return ( Seniors ) { 7 / 16 / 16 }
In addition to being able to leave campus in the evenings when they do not have a conflict , Seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher from the semester prior are not required to return to campus on Sunday evenings but may return prior to Morning Line-up on Monday mornings . Seniors must be present at Morning Line-up , groomed and ready for inspection . Continued use of this privilege in the Spring semester is dependent on the Senior ’ s Fall semester GPA . Current Juniors should make note of how their spring GPA will affect the fall semester of their Senior year .
In all cases , Seniors confined to campus , or on Academic or Disciplinary Probation may not use Monday Morning Return privileges ; nor does use of the privilege excuse a student from a detail , dorm meeting , game / practice requirements , etc .
STUDENT POLICES : GENERAL REGULATIONS
Attendance Regulations { 7 / 17 / 17 }
All students are required to reside on campus from Sunday evening through Weekend Dismissal . For the sake of clarity , the academic day begins with Morning line-up and concludes with Evening lineup or Weekend dismissal .
Attendance is checked at Morning and Evening Lineup , in chapel , evening Study Halls , at lights out , and at details . Unexcused absence constitutes AWOL ( absent without leave ), including students who fail to sign-in where required . A student who is AWOL for an entire academic day is subject to 16 points . ( If a student is AWOL from Morning Lineup but reports to the OD prior to the start of Chapel , his points will be reduced to 4 .)
Lateness is a 4-point violation and is defined as arriving up to 30 minutes after the scheduled start time of classes , duty assignments , required events , or appointments ( this includes , but is not limited to , weekday return to campus times for Seniors , Grounds Detail , KP Duty , and Serving Duty ). A student arriving more than 30 minutes late is considered AWOL . If an event lasts less than 30 minutes and a student does not attend , he is considered AWOL .
Please refer to the “ Health Services ” section of this Handbook for policies related to students who are ill and the impact on line-up , Chapel , classes , and dorm confinement .
Weather conditions ( including snow and sleet ), car trouble , traffic problems , etc . are NOT valid excuses for failure to attend or lateness to campus . Students are expected to plan ahead for weatherrelated delays when returning to campus in order to return ON TIME .
Permission for Leave { 6 / 23 / 17 }
Students must coordinate requests to leave campus prior to departure . The “ Permission for Leave ” protocols below cover the reasons a student may request to leave campus during the week , either temporarily or overnight . Students who leave campus without permission are AWOL . In no case does a Permission for Leave form excuse a student from Grounds Detail . In all cases , the student is expected to depart campus , address the reason for the leave request , and then return to campus .
Permission for Leave Request forms may be obtained from these Offices :
