Dining Room Regulations { 6 / 25 / 19 }
Breakfast , lunch , and dinner are served Monday through Friday when classes are in session . All meals are optional , but students must enter the Dining Room via the stairwell from the Lower-Level hallway for each meal attended . If students arrive prior to the start of a meal , they will wait to enter the Dining Room , quietly forming a line starting at the top of the stairs . During Lunch , a Senior Doorman is assigned to assist with the formation and oversight of the line and reports any issues to the OD . For all meals , the Food Service staff will signal their readiness to serve at the appropriate time by opening the Serving Line door .
Apart from KP students , all students who enter the Dining Room during the academic week must be in Classroom Dress for breakfast , lunch , and Thursday dinner , unless they have permission from college administration . Students may wear After Hours dress for Monday – Wednesday dinners ( see also , “ After Hours Dress ”). Students may NOT wear hats in Rowan Hall , including the Dining Room , and must leave backpacks and coats on the wall hooks in the Lower-Level hallway . Electronic device / earbud use is not permitted during any meal .
Students may take only single portions of each item that is offered . The Food Services Director will signal when all students are eligible for second portions , but not until everyone has had an opportunity to go through the line once . Taking additional servings of food prior to second servings being offered is an 8-point offense . When leaving the Dining Room , students must push their chairs back under the table . Students are expected to maintain a clean and safe Dining Room .
No students may eat meals early except students on KP , Serving Duty , Doorman , or those specifically authorized by senior administration . If students have written permission to eat first at lunch , they present that to the Doorman , and he will admit them first . Otherwise , for all meals , Seniors eat first , then Juniors , then Freshmen .
Students are not permitted in the Dining Room between meals without permission from administration or Food Services staff . Students may never take food or drinks out of the Dining Room . Use of the soda machines or the taking of any food in the Dining Room between meals is strictly prohibited .
