CONDUCT CODE : MENTORSHIP & DISCIPLINARY PROGRAMS
Mentorship Program { 6 / 10 / 20 }
For some students , Williamson can prove to be a significant departure from the life they know at home . This is expected and Williamson is committed to helping those students who are struggling . The student mentorship program is designed to support students who may be experiencing difficulty in adjusting to the demands of Williamson by pairing them in a one-on-one relationship with an approved mentor . Mentors volunteer for this role and can come from every part of the Williamson staff , faculty , and community . All approved mentors are familiar with Williamson policies and daily life . Although disciplinary points are the primary metric for pairing students with mentors , mentorship is not a disciplinary process . To the contrary , mentorship is an assistive process . There may be other circumstances that would prompt the pairing of a student with a mentor and the Vice President of Student Affairs may do so for the benefit of the student .
Freshmen and Juniors who accrue 16 disciplinary points prior to April 1 will be paired with a mentor with the ultimate goal of helping the student to adapt and adjust to Williamson . Seniors will be paired with a mentor on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Vice President of Student Affairs .
Based on the ongoing success and adjustment of the student , a mentor may recommend to the Vice President of Student Affairs that their formal mentorship of the student be discontinued . Each recommendation will be considered based on the needs and merits of the specific student .
Disciplinary Program { 6 / 10 / 20 }
The student disciplinary program is designed to be transparent , adherent to set standards , yet retain a degree of flexibility . The program is structured on intervention and review steps corresponding to observed student character / behavior . The decisive step in the program is typically a Character Review Meeting , whereby a decision to either dismiss or retain a student is made .
Please note , the process outlined below represents the college ’ s typical process , however , this does not preclude the administration from immediately dismissing a student who commits a severe disciplinary offense .
Students enter the disciplinary process by reaching the disciplinary point threshold established by academic year noted below :
Freshmen |
@ |
32 points |
Juniors |
@ |
28 points |
Seniors |
@ |
24 points |
If a student reaches the threshold , the Vice President of Student Affairs places the student on Disciplinary Probation and notifies his mentor . Once notified , the student must schedule a meeting
