2 . Lights Out . Lights out is 10:30pm ; students not at the lights out attendance check or out of bed after lights out are AWOL . Although Seniors do not have an official “ lights out ,” they must be present in their rooms for the 10:30pm attendance check . Seniors who are quiet and respectful of the time may be permitted to be in the lounge or their room after lights out . The Dorm Manager has the authority to modify this policy in part or in whole , based on the conduct of the residents and the needs of the dorm .
3 . Weekends . Students who wish to reside on campus at any point over a weekend must notify their Dorm Manager by the Thursday before . Those students are free to come and go as they wish with no curfew or lights out ; however , Weekend Quiet Hours start at 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights . Students who are noisy or disruptive are subject to discipline for disturbing the campus . Guests are not permitted over the weekends .
4 . Details . Common Area dorm details are assigned and inspected by the Dormitory Manager each day . Residence Life Staff will conduct student room inspections randomly each week . Students may be assigned additional work details on dorm cleanup nights or before Weekend Dismissal . If a student has another duty assignment that conflicts with his dorm detail , his roommate is the responsible substitute to complete the detail in his absence . Both students must notify the dorm manager in advance . If the roommate cannot serve as substitute ( illness , absence , other duty assignment , etc .) or if the student does not have a roommate , he must notify his dorm manager in advance , who will temporarily assign the detail to another student .
5 . Visitors . Visitors are not permitted in the dorms at any time unless authorized by college administration . Each student is responsible for the conduct of his guests and any damage they may inflict on college property . All visitors to the college must leave campus by 10pm . Students may not have visitors during Study Hall .
6 . Safety . In the event of an emergency--a situation in which a person ’ s health or well-being is involved or personal or college property is in danger-- rooms may be entered without authorization from the student
7 . Personal and College Property . Students must keep all their valuables in their college-provided lockers ( wooden wardrobes or closets ) and LOCKERS / CLOSETS MUST BE LOCKED ANYTIME STUDENTS ARE NOT IN THEIR ROOMS .
Students may not waste dorm supplies . Additionally , the college does not tolerate the destruction of its property . When accidents do occur , students must report any damage to the Dormitory Manager so that it can be documented , and a work order placed for the repair . However , students responsible for intentional damage or damage caused by reckless behavior may be cited and held responsible for the cost of the repairs . Between terms , the Director of Residence Life will provide instructions for students regarding leaving their personal belongings . In general , students will not have access to the dorms between terms . ALL personal items must be removed from a student ’ s room over the summer .
8 . Inspections and Searches . The administration will make periodic inspections of campus facilities , including dorms , for reasons of health , safety , plant maintenance , cleanliness , and neatness . This may include the random use of drug and explosive detecting dogs and other devices .
Searches of student property , including vehicles , for objects in violation of college regulations are conducted if a reasonable suspicion exists . Searches are conducted with the authorization of the Vice President of Student Affairs or Provost in his absence . The student has the right to be present during the search and to know what is being sought . In addition , when book bags , clothing , or other items are left in inappropriate places , college authorities may search such items in order to : ( 1 ) ensure that the items do not pose a risk , and / or ( 2 ) ascertain the owner of the items .
