are the standards of the college . Students will be expected to adhere to all college dress and grooming standards .
Rules for dress and grooming apply at all times that students are on campus , perform work for the college , or participate in a college-sponsored event or activity , even if off-campus . Between Morning and Evening Line-up , students must be in either Classroom Dress or Shop Dress . After Hours Dress is permitted after Evening Lineup ( except for Thursday Dinners and when formal evening events are scheduled ), or when the student is confined to the dorm .
Classroom Dress { 6 / 10 / 24 } The required dress for classes , between classes , lunch , chapel , to and from shop , and at most college events is :
• A clean and proper-fitting , un-embellished suit , or sport coat . ( Embellishments such as sequins or other such modifications are not permitted .) Sports coats are required in the fall once announced by the administration and are part of Classroom Dress until the first day of spring final exams each year . o The college provides each student with a designated “ gear logo ” quarter-zip fleece . Prior to the sports coat requirement , either a sports coat or the designated quarter-zip are optional for additional warmth ( NO other sweaters or fleeces are permitted ). Once sports coats are required , students may wear the designated quarter-zip under , but not in place of , their sports coat . o When the weather is inclement or cold , a student may wear an open-front ( meaning it may not be “ pullover-style ”) raincoat , windbreaker , or overcoat on top of , but not in place of , required Classroom Dress when outside . o Sweatshirts ( cotton zip ups and “ hoodies ”) are not permitted as outerwear , nor may they be worn in place of a sports coat .
• Outerwear may be related to the student ’ s trade but must be clean and presentable .
• When in Rowan Hall , all outerwear is to be hung on the wall hooks in the lower level . o Any question of suitability regarding student attire should be directed to the Vice President of Student Affairs . o In the Dining Room , students may remove their sportscoats during meals and place them on the backs of the chairs , right side out , across the shoulder line .
• Dress shirt . Long or short-sleeved , but may not be flannel , corduroy , or denim o A plain , white , standard undershirt with nothing on it is optional , but recommended
• Dress Pants or slacks worn at the waistline . No flannel , corduroy , or denim fabrics are permitted . o May have front and rear pockets only , no side leg pockets
• Dress socks . May not be white and must be crew length or longer
• Belt or suspenders o Belts must present a business image ; cargo and canvas belts , etc . are not acceptable o If the pants are not designed for a belt , suspenders must be worn .
• Suitable neck or bow tie . No offensive or embellished ties .
• Clearly visible ( at all times in Classroom Dress ) Williamson student ID worn on an authorized lanyard or a retractable belt clip
• Dress shoes . Must be clean , “ shine-able ,” and in good condition with no visible defects or damage ; athletic shoes , dock-siders , canvas , and suede shoes are unacceptable .
All clothes must be :
