Study Hall : Evening { 6 / 10 / 20 }
Evening Study Hall is required for all Freshmen and Juniors who are on Academic Probation or who require additional academic support as determined by the Vice President of Academic Affairs / CAO . Evening Study Hall sessions are held in the Strine Library for all underclassmen ; however , Juniors may sign out from the Library to their respective shops . Seniors do not have to attend Evening Study Hall , but they must remain on campus . Students may not sleep , play video games , or talk on phones during study hall ; they may only read or study . Freshmen will be expected to turn in cell phones upon entering Study Hall . All students required to go to Evening Study Hall must sign in between 7pm and 8:30pm Mon-Thurs .
When there is a home athletics competition that conflicts with study hall , the Athletic Director has the authority to redirect those students who are required to attend to another session in coordination with the Vice President of Academic Affairs / CAO .
Exceptions : if a Freshman is on probation for a shop skills class , he may (“ must ” if that is the only class he is on probation for ) attend Evening Study Hall in his shop . The student must log his attendance in that location with the supervisor / Foreman , noting when the student arrived and left .
Study Hall : Sunday { 7 / 17 / 07 }
All students on Strict Academic Probation must attend Study Hall in the Library on Sunday nights from 7-9pm .
Academic Probation { 6 / 10 / 22 }
After a student completes at least 20 % of the assignments for a class ( quizzes , tests , homework , etc .), if he has an average below 70 %, his instructor may place him on academic probation . A student remains on probation until his grade improves above 70 %, at which point he may be removed from probation . Students placed on probation receive written notification from the Education Office .
Academic Probation extends on a weekly basis from Monday - Thursday ; students may be removed from probation in the middle of an academic week if the instructor notifies administration . The following rules apply to students on Academic Probation :
1 . Attend Evening Study Hall ( see above ) 2 . Without permission for leave , Juniors and Seniors may not leave campus in the evenings during the week ; free time before and after dinner must be spent on campus . 3 . They may not use their Overnight Leave privilege . 4 . Athletes on Academic Probation still fully participate with their team .
Strict Academic Probation { 8 / 2 / 15 }
Students who are on Academic Probation for more than five consecutive weeks , or for two classes simultaneously for more than two consecutive weeks each are placed on Strict Academic Probation . Strict Academic Probation extends on a weekly basis from Sunday – Thursday . In addition to the rules for Academic Probation above :
Student-athletes on Strict Academic Probation MAY NOT
• Participate in any athletic game or match .
• Miss class , shop , or Evening / Sunday Study Hall for a game or practice
Student-athletes on Strict Academic Probation MUST
• Attend Evening Study Hall
• Attend Sunday Study Hall
• Attend all athletic practices ( applies to managers as well )
• Attend ( but not play in ) all contests / competitions that do NOT conflict with classes , shop , and / or Evening Study Hall .
