______________________________________________________________________ Completion of Capital Campaign Surpasses Goal — Raising Over $ 82M
Building for the Future , Williamson ’ s five-year comprehensive capital campaign with a fund-raising goal of $ 60 million , surpassed the goal , ending in the spring of 2021 with over $ 82 million raised . The campaign was held to raise the funds necessary to increase annual operating support , endowment funding , and capital infrastructure , in support of the school ’ s strategic vision and plan for the future and owes its success to those who believe in the school and its mission .
The many additions to the campus made possible by the campaign include the construction of the first new dormitory in decades , Watson Dormitory ; the renovation of the James R . Clemens 3W4 Dormitory ( formerly Stell Dormitory ) and Eyre Dormitory ; expansion of the dining room ; construction of the multi-sport , artificial turf , Betty and Russ 5W0 Harvey Athletic Field ; upgrades to the Lee Rowan School of Power Plant Technology ; and increases to the endowment .
The campaign is also allowing for the construction of a new student center , the Joseph L . and Marion M . Wesley Student Center , and a second new dormitory , the Judith A . and William B . Strine Dormitory , which are currently underway .
Alongside these large-scale capital initiatives , other significant updates to the technology and shop infrastructure of the campus made possible by this campaign , include new windows in Rowan Hall and four shop buildings , technology upgrades to numerous classrooms , new technology equipment for the power plant and machine shop , and significant investment in deferred maintenance .
President Michael Rounds said , “ Meeting and exceeding the fund-raising goals of this campaign provided the necessary resources to improve every aspect of Williamson . It sets the conditions that allow us to increase enrollment and expand the mission of Williamson in the future .”
