Welcome back to the 2018- 2019 school year ! We ’ ve hit the ground running with a strong student enrollment and a positive academic rating from the Texas Education Agency . Best wishes to students and staff for an amazing and awesome school year !
PISD staff and their families had a great time kicking off the school year with hot dogs , watermelon , and snow cones at the first ever Back to School Employee & Family Picnic . The picnic was held at Reagan Park prior to the first day of school during the week of professional development . Thank you to all of the sponsors and businesses who donated to help make the picnic fun and exciting .
Palestine ISD Grant Opportunities
Palestine ISD has received notification that A . M . Story Intermediate and Southside Elementary schools have both received School Transformation Grants . Each campus has been awarded $ 300,000 over the next two school years to spend directly on academic support for students .
The district will also receive the Texas After School Centers on Education ( TACE ) Grant an additional two years . The two grants combined will provide $ 1.6 million dollars of additional funding into our district for the next two school years . PISD continues to see an increase in students each year who have significant learning needs , some are first time English language learners , and some with special needs . Receiving this additional money from the Texas Education Agency will provide direct support for those students and offer specific teaching practices for our staff members to target the needs of students .
Thanks to the PISD Administrative Team for continuously seeking additional funding sources for our students and congratulations to the Curriculum / Instructional Department on receiving these grants .
Have a great 2018-2019 school year !
