pril has been a busy month full of many exciting programs and activities. I have had the opportunity to work with a number of area youth. I have continued with my wildlife habitat program and will wrap up with a contest on April 25. This month, Jacob Weber provided a lesson on tree identification and also provided a plant pressing activity that was a big hit with the students. I also gave a short lesson on grass identification. In addition, I helped host the Southeast District FFA Agronomy contest in combination with the Allen County Aggie Days event. I also had the opportunity to work with youth from the Independence Bible School with Bread in a Bag program.
I have also been a part of several successful programs this month. We had a wonderful Women in Agriculture meeting in Parsons on April 12. There were almost 60 women in attendance and we received many great comments and feedback from the attendees. I provided a lesson on noxious weeds and that seemed to be a big hit with the group. This was also a great day for networking and learning from other female agriculturalists. In addition, Keith Martin and I hosted a sheep and goat informational meeting. This was well attended and very informational.
There has also been time this month to meet with producers and other agriculture extension agents. I assisted with a booth at the Bartlett Co-op Customer Appreciation Day. This was a great event to be at because it draws in nearly 1,000 local producers. Moreover, myself and fellow ag agents in the district traveled to Phillipsburg for our annual spring conference. This was a great networking and educational event. It is always interesting to see what other parts of the state are doing for their extension programing.
There have been many great opportunities to expand our paw print this month. I have had the ability to make several valuable contacts and connections due to youth and producer programming. I look forward to expanding these relationships in the future.
