Stay Strong, Stay Healthy Levels 1 & 2 Huge Success in District

Stay Strong Stay Healthy Level 1 and Level 2 have kept me jumping this month. This was the first time I was able to teach Level 2 after our training in March. Participants LOVE it! We will do assessments in May and I can’t wait to see the progress they have made in their strength, flexibility and balance. This program is an asset to our aging population and they report weekly how they are seeing improvements. The Level 2 class was in a circle before class started one week comparing how flexible they were in their shoulders. They are EXCITED about this class and the improvements they are seeing. One reported that when she was at the Royals game the stairs were so much easier for her and she knew it was because of this class. In my level one class I have one participant that fights depression, but come to class. Last week that person reported that they know this class is working because getting out of a chair is so much easier.

EntrepreneurShip Investigation, (ESI) kicked off in the Mound Valley Grade School and has been a great success. We have covered a number of lessons from the ESI curriculum and have had two excellent guest speakers. One was a local entrepreneur that has students in our Labette County school district and the other from a local bank. The students have been engaged and ask questions. The students are also working on business plans. I think that this concept has been hard but the exposure has been great for them. Each group will present their business plan the first week of May.

I have met with two individuals this month to help with understanding their finances, creating plans to meet goals and pay off bills. I have also been able to review their credit reports and help them understand what their credit is all about. I look forward to checking back in with them in a few months to gage their progress and offer continued education.

My video on Facebook, “Saving for Summer Vacation” appears to be a big hit with over 170 views. Each month we do a radio and newspaper article. I also do a video over the same topic that is usually 2-2:30 minutes. Most of the time all three are the same but sometimes there is so variation in the final product of each. I think the videos add a nice change to the mix and on the website.
