his was a short month and went by very quickly! 4-H Club Day was completed just before icy weather arrived, which was very good news as we didn’t have to reschedule. The members did a great job and several will proceed onto Regional Club Day in Chanute on March 3. This is one of those life skills youth learn in 4-H that is used no matter what profession they choose. Increasing the number of participants for that reason is important to me.

I am the chair for the Professional Development Committee in our state’s professional organization, KAE4-HA. We are planning our spring meeting so this month has been busy with calls and phone conferences getting that all set up. It will be held in Topeka this spring.

The wildlife sessions Jeri set up for the youth are going well. I am assisting at each session with her and have learned a great deal myself. Some of the members are very knowledgeable about the wildlife in our area; others are learning a great deal (along with me).

The focus for Let’s Play Leadership this month is group consensus. Some of the students have a very had time working in a group and letting others give a reason for their decision. Others are great about facilitating the group in a

positive way and getting cooperation from others. It is a very neat lesson that helps the students take a step back and evaluate their own skills in decision making and working in a group of people.
